Beaivi is a Sami sun Goddess – returns the light to the dark winter northern lands bringing sanity, fertility, growth and hope.
At the time of the year when the Sun was returning, butter which melts in the sunshine was smeared on the doorposts, as a sacrifice to Beaivi, so that she could gain strength enough to climb higher and higher in the sky.
